Thai-Boxing/Muay Thai (TBA)
Muay Thai or Thai Boxing a unique form martial art practiced in several Southeast Asian countries but originating in Thailand. It is the national sport of Thailand, and is also known as Thai Boxing or The Art of the Eight Limbs.
Muay Thai has a long history in Thailand. Traditional Muay Thai, as it is practiced today, varies slightly from the original art and uses kicks and punches in a ring with gloves similar to those used in Western boxing. Muay Thai is referred to as "The Science of Eight Limbs", as the hands, shins, elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. Muay Thai is an especially versatile, brutal, straightforward martial art.
The Thai style training method helps develop mental toughnes and also promotes the physical attributes of power, stamina, strength, speed, balance, coordination and balance. What separates Thai Boxing from other striking arts like Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and Kung Fu is the fact that the techniques are constantly put to the test in actual ring fights. The training method offers realistic training methods that keep the practicioner sharp, yet injury free. The use of specially designed striking equipment allows students to deliver kicks, punches, knees and elbows with full power and speed without risk of injury to either partner. Unique clinching drills and timing sparring allow students to develop the timing and feel as to when to deliver their techniques. This develops a true ability to apply your skills, while walking away from your class or training session sweating and smiling - and of course always learning something new.
