Kali - Filipino Martial Arts (FMA)

The Filipino martial arts are broad based and have many different names. Kali, Escrima, Kuntao, and Silat are all names for a sophisticated and comprehensive martial art from the Philippines. This weapon based art focuses on the relationship between weapon and empty-hand techniques. Students are introduced to single stick, double stick, stick and dagger, double and single dagger, Panantukan (Filipino Boxing), Sikaran (Filipino kicking methods), Maphilindo Silat (a combination of Malaysian, Indonesian and Filipino close quarter fighting, sweeping/takedown and ground fighting methods), Dumog (Filipino Wrestling Style) and Kino Mutai (the art of pinching and biting).
