Jeet Kune Do (JKD)

Jeet Kune Do is the Art and Philosophy of the late Sifu Bruce Lee (Lee Jun Fan). J.K.D. is a system of personal development that Sifu Bruce Lee and his protoge Guro Dan Insanto have created and passed on students around the world. Jun Fan Gung Fu is a name given to the techniques Sifu Lee used in his expression of J.K.D.

The art emphasizes the ranges of empty-hand combat. Students are taught to confidently and with ease, flow from long distance to kicking- range to middle distance to hand- range to clinching trapping to grappling range. Both offensive and defensive tactics and techniques are taught in a simple efficient and effective training method to ensure functional combative skill. Attribute development goes hand in hand with functional skill, thus a J.K.D. student must also focus on developing many different attributes (i.e. speed, rhythm, timing, power, grace, conditioning, balance, etc.).

This is a truly blended stlye drawing on over 72 different martial arts including Wing Chun, Northern Praying Mantis, Southern Praying Mantis, Choy Li Fut, Eagle Claw, Western Boxing, Wrestling, Fencing, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Savate and Muay Thai. Because of Sifu Lee's request to "add what is specifically your own" this art has been further added to and refined over the years. Culminating in what we see today accross the world in many different hybrid stlyes of combat. Even UFC president Dana White gives credit to Sifu Lee as being the "father to modern Mixed Martial Arts" competition. The system is constantly under development and refinement by it's practicioners.
