Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW)

Combat Submission Wrestling(C.S.W.)is a blended grappling and striking system devised by former Light Heavyweight Shoot Wrestling World Champion Erik Paulson. It utilizes the best standing, clinch, takedowns, tackles, submissions, strikes, and throws from JUDO, SAMBO, GRECO-ROMAN, COLLEGIATE and FREESTYLE WRESTLING, BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU, MUAY THAI, BOXING, KICKBOXING, SAVATE, CATCH WRESTLING, JUDO, PANCRASE, SAMBO, and SHOOTO. The ground based combat system is comprised of three (3) parts:

  • 1. Position/Control
  • 2. Escapes/Reversals
  • 3. Finishes/Submissions

The focus of CSW is to master basic techniques and drills, and have the ability to flow from position to position, escape each position and have both upper body and lower body submissions. Students develop through a progression of flow drills, techniques and unique training methods to build a strong and competitive Submission Wrestling game.

This is one of the most complete hand-to-hand fighting systems available today. This system contains a perfect blend of fighting styles to fully develop ones STRIKING, CLINCHING, TAKEDOWNS, and GROUND FIGHTING. Many of today's top level MMA fighters train in C.S.W. including Sean Sherk, Josh Barnett, Ken Shamrock, and Nick Thompson.
