Gracie Jiu-Jitsu
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (Team Pedro Sauer)
Brazilian or Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, made famous by the Gracie family, is one of the most respected and effective grappling arts in the world. "BJJ" is not based on strength or but on using leverage as technique. This allows a much smaller person to defeat a larger opponent.
Since most street fights (or MMA fights) end up on the ground, BJJ concentrates on the hierarchy of superior and inferior positions on the ground. This foundation allows practitioners to control and submit their opponents. Our program is distinct from other Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools in the Minneapolis St. Paul Area, in that, we give serious attention to the clinch and takedown phase (Which is especially important in a climate like Minnesota!) Skill in the grappling range is necessary to complete your martial arts training in order to truly defend yourself. For MMA training, effective understanding of Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling is an imperative. We offer a FREE introductory class, don't hesitate to Call Now! - (763)560-5696
Our program is passed on by Professor Pedro Sauer, a 7th degree Red & Black belt under Helio Gracie & Rickson Gracie, the Abu Dahbi Combat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor of the year 2000 and is considered Rickson Gracie’s most technical Black Belt. Additionally, our head instructor Greg Nelson (2nd Degree Black Belt), has a background in Division I NCAA wrestling at the University of Minnesota.
Class Format: Class begins with a 5-10 minute warm-up followed by the professor demonstrating techniques, and the students drilling of techniques. In some cases students do live drilling for specific positions and/or certain submissions. After class is reserved for open mat time where students have the chance to spar live for position and submission holds on the ground
